  1. Fermented Foods

Fermented foods such as yogurt and kimchi earned the top spot on the list, most likely due to their immune and gut-boosting health benefits.  Looking to incorporate fermented foods into your diet? Try our Roasted Eggplant with Saffron Yogurt Sauce.

  1. Blueberries

Blueberries are a great source of antioxidants, which help protect your cells against damage from free radicals, as well as help reduce the risk for cancer, heart disease, and other conditions.  Additionally, antioxidants also contribute to hair growth, nail strength, and healthy skin.

  1. Seeds

Seeds, like chia seeds and hemp seeds, are nutritional powerhouses.  Chia seeds, in particular, are packed with antioxidants, minerals, fiber, and omega-3 fatty acids.  They’re also a great source of calcium and magnesium.  Our Cape Seed Bread is a great way to add seeds into your diet.

  1. Exotic Fruit

According to Real Simple, 2022 is the year of exotic fruits, such as golden berries and acai.  These super healthy foods are loaded with antioxidants and are believed to improve cholesterol levels.

  1. Avocados

In addition to being delicious, avocadoes are an excellent source of heart-healthy fats and loaded with antioxidants and other nutrients.  Try our Open-Faced Smoked Salmon and Avocado.

  1. Green Tea

This nutritious beverage is known for its anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting properties.  Experts believe it can also increase fat burning and boost metabolism.

  1. Nuts

Nuts and nut butters are a great way to add protein, fiber, and other key nutrients to your diet.  Try our delicious Roasted Broccolini with Sauteed Artichokes and Pine Nuts recipe.

  1. Ancient Grains

The term ancient grains can encompass any type of grain that has stayed unchanged for thousands of years.  Examples include amaranth, teff, farro and quinoa.  Quinoa is probably one of the most well-known, as it is loaded with fiber and protein, as well as vitamins B6 and C.  Enhance your diet with our Quinoa with Black Beans and Corn.

  1. Leafy Greens

Dark, leafy greens, such as collard greens and spinach, are an excellent source of protein and flavonoids, which can prevent damage from free radicals, cancer, and harmful inflammation.
