New Year’s Eve Checklist

There’s nothing like a festive New Year’s Eve party, and with 2020 being right around the corner, you may feel compelled to throw a bash of your own.  From food to drinks to decorations and party favors, here’s everything you need to throw the ultimate New Year’s Eve celebration:

Create the Mood

When it comes to New Year’s Eve party decorations, this is the time to bust out your metallic or glittery décor.  Try filling your entire ceiling with gold and silver balloons, and don’t forget the cheesy 2019 glasses, noisemakers and party hats.

Organize the House

Rearrange furniture to create space and store away any precious items.  Make sure you have a table set up for drinks with a corkscrew, bottle opener, ice bucket, lemon and lime slices and plenty of glasses and cups to encourage people to serve themselves.  Give the house a good clean before guests arrive.

The Day Before

Buy the remaining fresh food, including plenty of lemons and limes for drinks.  Freeze more ice than you can ever imagine needing and work out where the mountain of coats will go when guests arrive.

Check your kitchen supplies

For an appetizer-and-cocktails-style party, you can never have too many glasses and plates.  Check what you have in your pantry and buy extra.  Also, depending on the guest count, be sure to have enough toilet paper and kitchen towels on hand.

Stock up on Finger Foods

You might not be serving a full meal at your party, so be sure to have some good food on hand.  There’s no need for an elaborate menu, though – let guests nibble on hearty bites, such as our Spicy Edamame and our Parmesan Cheese Baskets.

Midnight Countdown

You can’t have a New Year’s Eve party without planning a countdown to midnight.  You could always just watch the ball drop on TV, but something a little more memorable will add to the fun and celebration.  Don’t forget to have plenty of champagne available for everyone to toast!

Plan the Entertainment

The right music can take an average party into an unforgettable one.  Be sure to create a few themed playlists of party tunes to keep everyone engaged.  Also, guests love to be entertained, so make sure you have a few party games up your sleeve, even if you don’t intend on playing any.

Party Favors

Every guest loves to be sent home with something little, thoughtful and fun.  Offer them parting gifts, such as small bags with things like Aspirin, Vitamin C and some coffee, to give your guests a little pick-me-up the next day.  They’ll be sure to thank you later!
