Add on another appetizer to your Thanksgiving dinner!

‘Tis the season to dish out holiday recipes from Lajollacooks4u! So far we’ve shared Chef Jodi’s delicious turkey and gravy recipe, a fabulous side dish of sweet potatoes, and now we’re adding an awesome appetizer to the mix! Even just one of these gourmet recipes will certainly wow your friends and family. (But we encourage you to try them all!)

Pear and Blue Cheese Pastry Triangles

 3 Tablespoons butter

1 Tablespoon Olive oil

4 – Sweet onions (Vidalia or Maui) sliced very thin

1 firm ripe pear cut in thin slices

Salt and pepper

2 sheets puff pastry thawed but kept cool

7 oz. crumbled blue cheese

Melt butter and olive oil in sauté pan over medium heat. Add sliced onions and reduce heat slightly. Stirring occasionally cook until onions soften and become brown around 30 – 40 minutes. When onions are done sprinkle with salt and pepper and set aside to cool.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Line two 14 by 17 inch sheet pans with parchment paper.

Roll out dough with a floured rolling pin. Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife cut pastry sheets into triangles about 2 in. wide. Place on parchment paper so they are not touching.

Lay a piece of sliced pear on each triangle, top with caramelized onions and ½ teaspoon of gorgonzola or blue cheese.

Bake in oven until puffed and golden about 25 – 30 minutes
