It’s been a week filled with team building here at Lajollacooks4u!
First up, we had eight members from Watkins Wellness join us at our La Jolla-based venue. Kim Schaefer, Director of People Strategy brought in her HR team to enjoy an unforgettable four-course cooking challenge.
While taking in the view overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the group participated in a series of icebreakers and then formed into teams to begin cooking and competing.
The teams cooked delicious Salmon Cakes with a Spicy Roulade and Wild Mushroom Farro Risotto as appetizers, and followed it with Blackened Shrimp and Grilled Beef Tenderloin with a Mustard Herb Sauce (both accompanied with grilled seasonal vegetables) for the main course. Dessert was a total winner: homemade short cakes with grilled peaches and Grand Marnier!
The teams had a blast cooking the delicious menu items and bonding with one another. Kim wrote, Thanks to you and your staff for making yesterday so special for us. You did such a great job! Perfect view, food, venue and people.” Another guest wrote, “this was one of the best team building events ever!”
Later in the week, we had the Generali Global Assistance team join us for a second time! The travelers insurance provider brought 22 members of their global executive team in for an evening of fun, cooking, dining and camaraderie.
Lajollacooks4u’s talented MC, Adam Portnoy, took the reins and guided the group through each event segment. First was a picture puzzle icebreaker, which split up the group into teams. Then, each team competed against each other on company trivia, with the winning team getting to select their cooking station and assigned menu item. Once determining who would serve as the judges, head chefs and marketing members of each team, our guests rolled up their sleeves and got busy cooking and creating their 30-second infomercials!
One team was so innovative with their infomercial presentation that they created their very own website and video! To watch it, visit: www.teamnoireats.com.
After the food was prepared, the group dined on Puff Pastry Tarts, Porcini Crusted Chicken with Roasted Tomato and Olive Sauce, as well as Grilled Salmon with an Herb Rub and a Caper Vinaigrette.
All in all, it was a great time had by all, filled with unforgettable memories and delicious California cuisine.
