April has been a busy month for cooking events at our venue! First we had Unum Insurance and Lockton Insurance Brokers visit us to participate in our signature Tapas Cooking Challenge. Both teams were brought together by Unum’s Assistant Vice President Brenda Zarouri and Lockton’s Jascha Bennington, and together, all members prepared a menu of hot and cold tapas, including Blackened Shrimp with Edamame Salad and Mini Cheesecakes, before being judged by taste, presentation and teamwork.
Ultimately, the Ham team was crowned the victor, and everyone feasted on the delicious tapas they helped prepare, all while taking in the beautiful view overlooking La Jolla.
Later in the week, we hosted a special birthday celebration. Tara Anderson attended a team-building event with her company, Sequenom, several years ago, and the experience so resonated with her that she decided to return and treat her husband, Derek, for his birthday! Derek’s parents and their new baby boy, John, also participated in the experience, and they all had such a great time preparing their gourmet meals that Tara bought two cookbooks to remember the special time they spent together.
Said Derek, “Absolutely wonderful! Great food, thoughtful instruction and imaginative menu in a beautiful setting.”
