We recently hosted a birthday celebration for Karen Zoppoth who had joined us with some friends from Arizona.
Along with loving the La Jolla weather and coastal scenery from atop Mount Soledad, our guests were thrilled with the gourmet cooking and dining experience found only in Chef Jodi's kitchen.
The group of fun-loving women prepared a full five-course menu, starting with a Focaccia with Eggplant Caponata and Burrata, and a Salad of Roasted Beets, Fennel, and Fresh Nectarines in a Parmesan Cheese Basket accompanied with 2011 King Estates Pinot Grigio.
The entrees of the event included a seared Beef Tenderloin with a Garlic Mustard Sauce, Tomato Chutney, Roasted Asparagus Bundles, and Garlic Truffle Pomme Frites complimented by a 2010 Josh Cabernet Sauvignon.
To top off a delicious meal, the ladies prepared a Plum Tart with Marzipan Crumble and Creme de Cassis.
One of the birthday guests, Brandy Gold, a self-proclaimed non-cook, shared that "this was an incredible, safe, approachable and inspiring experience" for her. "Cooking made fun, do-able, and filled with love", said Gold.
Every guest greatly enjoyed their fun-filled evening in Chef Jodi's kitchen and declared how they couldn't wait to try out their newly-learned recipes for family and friends.
