As 2015 comes to a close we are looking forward to new flavors, new faces, and new resolutions. The past month has been packed with fantastic groups that we were so excited to have join us. These groups brought amazing light to our kitchen and produced some delicious dishes too!
This month we were so happy to have Jennifer Schnettler and her boyfriend Jason Lee. Jennifer traveled all the way from snowy Wisconsin to meet up with Jason who lives in California. They enjoyed a cooking class that was a romantic and different date night experince.
The kitchen was full of warmth and laughter as the couple prepared fresh Focaccia with Truffle Oil, locally caught Seabass and Chicken with Caper Vinaigrette, Orzo with creamy Feta, a crisp Apple and Pomegranate Salad, and topped it all off with a delectable Pear Crumble.
Jennifer said that our kitchen had "an inviting and exciting atmosphere" and she "can't wait to come back and try more recipes and techniques."
We loved the enthusiasm they had and we can't wait to see them again!
We were so ecstatic to have the team RBN Commercial Interior Design team- a local San Diego based design firm- joining us for their own festive twist on a holiday party, complete with pizza rolls!
We always love having corporate groups join us and the energy of RBN was amazing. The group of 10 filled the room with positivity and some impressive cooking skills to boot! The kitchen heated up with a fun Pepperoni & Wild Mushroom Pizza Roll Making Match, because who doesn't love a little pizza and competition?
Owner Tara Norton loved the experience and told us: "We have been stuck in the luncheon tradition for years and it was time to do something new and this was it! It was the perfect event for our group."
Amanda Vargas said that "It was a great team building experience. We would love to do this again."
We loved having RBN cook with us and we are excited to see what they will create with us next time.
At Lajollacooks4u we love to explore the flavors of other cultures. When the Pittsinger Family joined us from Washington we knew it would be a perfect opportunity to make some delicious Indian cuisine. The class was a gift from Julie to her son Matthew and her husband Brett. What a fun idea!
Together the family cooked up a storm beginning with Ground Chicken Samosas with a Curry Yogurt Sauce, Homemade Naan Bread and then moving on to Chicken Tikka Masala and Chana Masala with Eggplant. The meal was topped off with Pears Blanched in Wine with a Pecan Crumble. Yum!
The family, who owns Karma Vineyards, had nothing but good things to say about their dinner. Julie said that they "were honored to have an authentic Indian dinner- the Naan was fabulous!"
Matthew is mastering the art of Samosa making!
What a great night full of exotic and new flavors. We loved having the Pittsingers with us, and we can't wait to see their homemade samosas soon!
What winter would be complete without a big gathering of friends and family to share a meal. Nothing brings everyone together quite like a Greek feast. We hosted a family night of fresh and rich Greek flavors. Here are a few of the delightful dishes we explored- doesn't that lamb look crazy good?
