We’re excited to announce that we’ve expanded our team as we gear up for a busy fall season! We’ve seen record growth so far in 2019, and we’ve worked hard to accommodate the growing demand for our services. As a result, we’ve built a phenomenal team.
Adam Portnoy serves as our master of ceremonies. He is responsible for keeping all aspects of the events running smoothly, as well as entertaining the crowd through a variety of games, trivia questions and icebreakers. With his vivacious personality and attention to detail, Adam has been able to captivate our guests since we opened our doors in 2008.
Mariela Olvera serves as Lajollacooks4u’s primary sous chef and kitchen manager. Mariela has been with us for 11 years, and she manages the kitchen staff, helps prepare a variety of recipes and ensures every facilitator is prepped and prepared prior to and during all events.
We also employ several chefs, including Founder and Chef Jodi Abel; Chef Melanie Peterson, a graduate from the International Culinary Center, New York, and former attorney; Chef Nicole Estrada, owner of catering business Fresh Creations; and Chef Leo Ranks, a professional chef with over 15 years of experience in the food industry. Each are an incredible asset to the team and bring their own unique set of skills to every cooking event.
Other team members include Colleen Pescatore, a team facilitator who is certified in integrative nutrition; and multi-talented Julia Shapiro, who serves as the company’s artist, facilitator and photographer.
Together, our team provides a multitude of skills to help make every cooking event a success!
