You may ask, “ice cubes, really?” Yes, ice cubes! We were simply blown away by how something so common can be so useful for making delicious, natural salad dressings. If you haven’t yet seen it listed in the instructions for this Summer Salad recipe (Mario’s Tomato, Cucumber and Purple Onion Salad), then we’ll give you the low (in temperature) down here:
Take your already-to-go salad (with olive oil, oregano, and a dash of salt and pepper) and add a handful of (4-5) ice cubes. Gently toss the salad and ice cubes together for a few minutes as ice cubes melt. Once the ice cubes melt, you’ll have a delicious, light and home-made dressing!
Chef Jodi says, “This salad dressing trick ONLY works in summer! Plain water simply doesn’t do the trick. The changing of temperatures with the summer heat are absolutely key to making the dressing.”
