Spring has sprung, and the time has come to spruce up your kitchen for this new season.   Here’s how you can get your kitchen spring-ready in no time:

Start with Door Frames

Pull out some disinfecting wipes and clean the tops of door frames and kitchen cabinets that have gathered dust over the winter.

Speed-Clean Your Fridge

You don’t have to devote an entire day once the weather gets nice to deep-clean your fridge.  Instead, do a quick clean.  First, empty its contents, check expiration dates, and toss anything past its prime.  Then, remove the drawers and scrub with a sponge, leaving them to air-dry.  Next, wipe down the walls and shelves with multi-surface spray.  Finally, return the drawers, place the food back in and wipe down all jars and bottles.  You’ll be done in 20 minutes flat!

Tidy Your Pantry

No one wants to spend a ton of time indoors once the weather gets nice.  Thankfully, when it comes to the pantry, the smallest effort can make a big difference!  First, face all the labels out, stacking like items on top of each other for extra visibility.  Then, group similar items and flavors together, checking expiration dates while you go.  Finally, wipe down the shelves with a damp rag – mission accomplished!

Wipe (or Hose) Down Your Trash Can

Trash cans get pretty gross over the course of a long winter.  Get some hot, soapy water and wipe the whole thing down, inside and out.  If it’s warm outside, simply hose the can and let it air-dry in the sun.

De-Stink Your Garbage Disposal

All you need to do is run a few lemon rinds through the disposal.  Then, follow with cold water to dispel any sour odors.

Wash Your Potholders

After all that winter cooking, your potholders are probably long overdue for a good scrub.  Throw them in the washing machine to ready them for all your spring cooking!

Prep Your Cutting Boards

Seasonal summer foods are right around the corner, so make sure your cutting boards are ready for all the chopping, dicing and slicing to come!  First, sanitize your cutting board with hydrogen peroxide or vinegar.  Then, follow it by conditioning the wood with mineral oil to protect the surface.

Buy Some Flowers

Want to really brighten the room? Get a bunch of bright blooms for the kitchen table.  They’ll add a pop of color, not to mention create a nice spring-time mood.

Happy Spring Cooking!
