Whew – what a year!
We started off 2020 in a whirlwind, hosting teams from Collins Aerospace, Kellogg’s, Novartis, Intuit, the American Association of Pediatrics, BKM, and Purchasing Power, in those first few weeks of the year. Then … the pandemic struck, and like everyone else, our sense of normalcy was turned upside down.
But, we were able to pivot and reinvent ourselves, soon offering our signature team-building events and special occasion cooking events in a virtual format. Our Virtual Cooking Events soon took off, and we were thrilled to be able to bring teams together, like Trend Micro, Wound Warrior Project, Lowe Real Estate and Comprehensive Advisors, via Zoom. We’re now even able to prepare and ship our own Ingredients Boxes locally to those participating in our virtual events!
2020 also allowed us more time to devote to our favorite local nonprofits. In June, we hosted our Cooking for a Cause event benefiting the San Diego Food Bank. With nearly 60 participants attending the virtual fundraiser, we were able to raise $2,400 – which provided over 12,000 meals to our community! Then, in August, we co-hosted Virtual Dinners for Good, a virtual cooking event to benefit one of our favorite local nonprofits, Kitchens for Good! $2,100 was raised to support this fabulous organization and its hunger relief and culinary job initiatives. Finally, Chef Jodi led the Hanukkah Cooking with Hillel event in December, benefiting Hillel of San Diego. Over 75 students, families and Hillel Board members joined us for this event, with many of them cooking right along with us!
We are so grateful for all of your support through this challenging and unusual year, but we are so excited for what the New Year will bring. Stay safe and healthy, and we hope to see you (in-person) in our kitchen soon!
