I am a certified Foodie; someone who loves food in everyway – preparing, inventing and of course eating. I enjoy cooking in my kitchen, particularly for my family and friends. So it was a natural leap for me to start this next adventure in my life: A cooking class for you – visitors from overseas and from the United States; other Foodies who are interested in learning about Californian Cuisine and sharing my kitchen for an afternoon of wonderful fun, culminating with a scrumptious meal.
When one mentions Californian Cuisine the term does not conjure up an immediate mental picture as is the case when one says Let’s eat Italian or Greek. California’s food is influenced by its outdoor lifestyle, coupled with the influence of its many immigrants, notably from Latin America and Asia.
A meal consisting of fresh grilled fish layered in a tortilla, garnished with cabbage, fresh guacamole and homemade salsa is just as qualified to be labeled Californian Cuisine as a rack of lamb marinated in mustard and fresh herbs, accompanied with a side of marinated grilled veggies. Of course there’s dessert too.
So get ready for a fun afternoon in my kitchen where we’ll enjoy the fresh breezes of La Jolla, the smells of good food and the pleasure of each others’ company. |
